Watch Warriors-Celtics 3 Games at the most SF bar in Boston

The crowd went wild; increasingly, soft drinks with high and low collisions. It was the final seconds of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and the Boston Celtics had defeated the Golden State Warriors, 116-100. Suddenly, the music playing at the bar – in San Francisco, all over the place – shocked the audience. First, the fire banner. Then came the accordion. Powerful shots from the drums arrived.

O God. Oh no. It was a group of Dropkick Murphys.

It is safe to say that fans of the Celtics in Connecticut Yankee, a Boston stadium near San Francisco on Potrero Hill, have all lost st at “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.” It will not surprise you to know that she had a similar interest in “Sweet Caroline” after all Mahcas Smaht and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown lied to Dubs.

I went to the Connecticut Yankee Wednesday to see the sound of the famous New Englanders ‘cum-San Franciscans’ playground, many of which, as usual, are very fond of the Warriors – except when they are playing. The finale that never happened against Da Celts. It was … all you could expect. And really fun.

The venue is owned by Tony Cooney, who also owns a Tempest Bar & Box Kitchen, The Showdown and Louie’s. He admits he is not a big fan of the game, or the New Englander, but when he bought the site in 2015 from Fritz Frisbie – a Boston fan – he promised to keep it. Fritz bought the bar in the 1980s and “made it the way it is today,” Cooney told me. “Our appearance saves the best gemstones in the city, keeping them as they are. Fritz was willing to give it up but didn’t want it to change the way it was.”

Of course, the most popular drinks are still Southie’s specialties: Sam Adams and Jameson’s shot for $ 11. The walls are still adorned with memories that New Englanders love, and everyone, uh, doesn’t. Larry Bird annoys Julius Erving? See. Touchdown Tom behind the bar? Undoubtedly, baby. Coors Light LED logo with Patriots logo? You have to have it.

The Celtics flag for retired players, including University of San Francisco dean Bill Russell, # 6, hangs in The Connecticut Yankee's main auditorium along with several New England games and public memory. The venue is the place where Boston fans view the big game as the current 2022 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

But there are also San Francisco sports equipment on the walls, indicating that this is, you know, a bar in the Bay Area. One large TV in the back (this area is large, by the way, with tons of space inside and out) is decorated on each side with the Celtics flag and the Warriors flag.

That’s why there are unexpected challenges ahead: No one in Connecticut Yankee has ever thought about this, Dubs vs. C’s of all berries, can be spread to San Francisco. And it is a stretch to say that the list has opened up a real controversy.

On Wednesday, Celtics fans at the bar surpassed Warriors fans, but the latter team was allowed to stay in the enemy-enemy zone. The only vitriol I found was going to Draymond Green, who, in fairness, is a heel for all other NBA fans. Otherwise, Celtics fans often quit their jobs to approve the exciting play of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who scored 31 and 25 points, respectively.

“I’m still in Boston at heart, but here’s my home,” Celtics enthusiast Ani told me. He says he only loves the Warriors. Anthony Mejias, who works as a bartender for the Celtics jersey, said, “Sometimes I love Warriors, but I can’t say I love it.”

Kelly Howe, a bartender dealer in Connecticut Yankee, was also the ambassador. “I respect them, it’s a great team,” he said of Golden State. “It’s good for our business. But as a Celtics fan, I want them to succeed.”

Howe was placed in the front seat, playing the green beanie, yes. He was not working – he frustrated the presence of his patella tendon and washes – but he wanted to stay in it, mainly because of superstitions. He left the club quickly for Game Two, because he was in so much pain, and what happened? The Celtics lost.

Kelly Valerie, a retired supervisor, is originally from New Jersey, but grew up in a sports club in Boston with her friend Tyler Hayden, who also works as a bartending bartender in Connecticut Yankee. “This takes the cake, No. 1, really,” he told me about the power of the nearby team.

Behind the bar house, I found Warriors-Celtics fighting families sitting facing each other. Alex, a Celtics fan, met Kate, a Warriors fan, during the epidemic. Both are from New England, but Kate took the Warriors with them when they moved to Lake Tahoe in 2009. As confirmed, this was Monta Ellis’ time, so she is not a bandwagon fan. If the Celtics were playing anyone else in the title, they would have enjoyed Boston.

“I remember thinking, ‘It’s better to be a Warriors fan, because there will never be a day when they will defeat the Celtics,'” Kate said. Not funny anymore.

Alex and Kate are not overly concerned about the outcome of the list that is affecting their relationship. “It’s a win-win,” Alex said. We will see how this is achieved when the winner is crowned.

Behind the table were Joe and Anat. Joe openly admits that he is not a sports fan, but is from Massachusetts. Years ago, he decided to take a trip to the Connecticut Yankee with interest. There was only one seat left on the bar. He was next to Alex. “We agreed to start a conversation,” recalls Joe. “I went [Alex’s] a birthday party and that’s when I met [Anat]. And now we are married. ”

Anat moved to the bay in 2009 and has a lot of families here who are already Warriors fans, so he took over the team quickly. “I wanted to put on my Warriors shirt today, but my husband and my uncle said, ‘No, you’re going to stay behind! You are pregnant, I don’t know if you should, ” she told me. But he quickly realized that Warriors fans are welcome in the Connecticut Yankee. One time, Kate told Anat, she should be a real friend and come up with a Dubs jersey. And don’t worry, Kate added: One day she will receive the Anat baby Warriors baby jersey.

By the second half, the inside of the bar was full. The Warriors ‘run was a testament to the Celtics’ trust. When Andrew Wiggins threw the ball over Derrick White in the middle of Wednesday, he made “THAT’S A CHAAHGE” sounded. The Celtics re-emerged from the finals, and spectators returned to sporting events, such as making friends at the bathroom line. “This bar is sick,” said a 20-year-old man wearing a Tatum jersey to several elderly customers waiting to board. They readily agreed.

When the game got better, the mock songs of “WAAAAAAARRIORS” began. The Dubs fans who were present were a good game on this and slowly made their way to the exit. Many did not want to be involved with Dropkick Murphys, and I can not blame them for this.

I got out of the bar shortly after. Warriors fans from other nearby clubs were walking down the street and helped me find out the truth: this is San Francisco, not Boston. My final decision? The Connecticut Yankee is a fun way for fans of the masochistic Warriors who want to embrace those under their team, fortunately, on the road, but without risk. And then the real deal for the New Englanders, with one big difference: The hardest game fans out there were really good.
