Children and adolescents in the municipalities of Viras, Sao Sebastiao and Kuralinho in Marazzo (PA) have been the subject of a series of meetings since Monday between local managers and representatives of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights (MMFDH). Promoted by the National Secretariat for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (SNDCA / MMFDH), the campaign is part of the Mayo Laranga campaign to combat child and adolescent abuse and sexual exploitation. In addition to the meetings, the program included a workshop on the Protected Children program, which provides state and municipal training and coaching for professionals in the Child and Adolescent Rights Guarantee System (SGDCA).
The purpose is to strengthen the system and improve the care, support and protection of children and adolescents who are victims or witnesses of violence, as established by the Safe Hearing Act. The National School for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Indica) was also presented to managers and mayors.
Assistant National Secretary Fernanda Monteiro was in the area and said the meetings were very fruitful. “We came to Marazzo to strengthen the child and adolescent protection network. In addition to providing guidance on the need for qualified professionals, on this occasion, we agreed with local directors and mayors on the importance of using information systems for children and adolescents (SIPIA) so that we can monitor the effects of violence. The region and we can work together, ”he said.
The federal government manager highlighted that municipalities were directed toward municipal funding for the rights of children and adolescents. “We had the opportunity to elaborate on how the municipalities of Sao Sebastiao and Kuralinho, which already have municipal funds for the rights of children and adolescents, could use the available resources. With Virus, we have been able to move some processes forward at the regularization stage, “he explained.

To mark the occasion, MMFDH representatives formally transformed Oeiras’ allegiance to the Mães do Brasil program and promoted free courses offered by the National Secretariat for Policy for Women (SNPM / MMFDH) through the Qualifica Mulhar Project. “This is an integrated way to ensure the human rights of vulnerable families in the region,” the assistant secretary said.
The initiative to support municipalities in the region is part of the Social Development Axis of the Embrace the Marazo program, which brings together 133 programs and activities from 16 federal agencies, civil society, para government and municipal governments. So far, the program, coordinated by MMFDH, has invested about R $ 950 million in the islands.
The month of May is marked by awareness raising against the abuse and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. In 2022, the federal government’s Mayo Laranga campaign arranged for the release of unprecedented material, including video, cards, infographics, special materials and an event to launch a new public policy. The pieces will be published on the Human Rights Portal and the social network @mdhbrasil with the assistance of the Social Communications Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic.
The campaign will culminate in an event scheduled for May 18, the National Day Against Sexual Harassment and Exploitation, where the federal government seeks to launch the Proteas Brasil program and distribute other related items.
