“It’s very different, because I can speak good English, but I had a hard time changing my mind. People’s minds have been working on Portuguese for many years, and there is no point in just speaking the language well. Action is our tool. So even though you are familiar with these different languages, you do not have the same intuitive perception of verbs in your mother tongue. And realizing this, the difficulty that was created is very interesting. I learned more in this work than many others, because it forced me to rethink my method, my status as an artist. It was crazy, a very interesting discovery for me, “said Tarsisio Filho.

Arasi (Sophie Charlotte) and Joao (Rodrigo Lombardy) join the dinner at the Portuguese Embassy to receive Goebbels, Hitler’s famous propaganda minister. As soon as they arrived at the event, the two had former captain Jumkle (Peter Ketnath), recently promoted to colonel, who did not miss the opportunity to provoke the deputy consul.

Annoyed and jealous after Joao’s rebuke, the Nazis make a false accusation about the Brazilian in an attempt to remove him from the picture. At the consulate, Joao was surprised by the Gestapo agents, who took him in for questioning. Even in the absence of the deputy consul, a bomb exploded in the building, directed by Souza Ribeiro (Tarsisio Filho), leaving the office in ruins.

Watch the interview:

Tell us a little about your character.
Souza Ribeiro is the chief consul, he posted while working in Hamburg. Guimeres arrives at a time when Nazism is beginning to emerge, head out. Hamburg was not the capital of Germany, but it was a very important commercial center at that time because it had a very important port. Consul Souza Ribeiro has a completely pro-government stance. A first hand bureaucrat.

Is this your first job in English? How was the experience?
As an actor, yes. It’s very different, because I can speak good English, but I had a hard time changing the shape of my head. It was pretty crazy, a really interesting rediscovery for me.

What was it like to share the set with Sophie and Rodrigo? How was your exchange on stage?
I’ve already done about three or four with Rodrigo. I never worked with Sophie, but we already knew each other, we were friends. When you put coworkers to work together, everything is so much more fun, a natural intimacy is already established. It is very tasty.

And how was the director’s partnership with Jem Manjardim?
I have known Jamie for many years, we have done a lot of great things together. I started with Jim and he started with me on television together. We did ‘Sinhá Moça’, the whole period of Manchete, ‘Pantanal’, ‘Cananga do Japão’, ‘A Casa das Sete Mulheres’… I have been friends with Jem for many years. He is a favorite partner and a very talented director. He has worked with my whole family. It’s very beautiful, very tasty, always.
