Royals’ Adalberto Mondesi Found with Torn ACL

11:19 am: Royals general manager Dayton Moore has announced that Mondesi has been found with a torn ACL.twitter ulalo via Lewis). This could end his season and, depending on his recovery, maybe even his leadership and team. Mondesi will be fit-fit for the last time in the winter. He could have paid the equivalent of $ 3MM this year, but with a serious knee injury, it is not a lock where he can make a deal. The Royals will have a full season of testing and monitoring his recovery before making the call. If it progresses well, it is a reasonable price, but only time will tell how the recovery process works.

As for Singer, he will be rebuilt as a pitcher from Omaha, Moore added. This could point to a quick turnaround and a return to the Majors, assuming everything is going well. The singer made it to the finals on April 26 and threw two innings. It is possible that he may start in the next few days.

11:15 am: The Royals made several appearances on Thursday, mostly on the right selection Brady Singer to Triple-A Omaha and install a short stop Adalberto Mondesi on a 10-day injury list 10 player Kyle Isbel and infielder Emmanuel Rivera boarded from Omaha in a similar manner. Mondesi is battling a knee injury, and tests last night showed structural damage, on Alec Lewis The Athletic (twitter ulalo).

With the exception of the short-term restructuring project in 2021, it will be the first small league for Singer since 2019, when he was just removed for a year from the No. 1 spot. 18 nominees all in preparation for 2018. Singer made the Royals ’Open Day list in 2020 and has been on the league’s biggest list (or injury list) ever since. He looked as flexible after the regular rookie he showed up in 2020, when he reached the 4.06 ERA with the best game performances and smooth running and 53.1% low in 64 1/3 innings.

The 2021 season did not go well, however. The singer had the first half and low but most of the time he could be used in the All-Star break period before, cutting the 4.52 ERA in 85 2/3 innings. He was less than five innings in appearance, however, and by mid-July his pace had dropped slightly since the start of the season. The singer was impressed with Orioles seven times in just two innings on July 17, and the Royals put him on a list of injuries and shoulder fatigue a few days later. The singer returned a month later, but did not make up for the rest of the season, as he returned from a series of injuries in late September with a biceps injury.

Kansas City miraculously moved Singer from the rotation to the bullpen this year – a new part of the boxer who started all 39 of his games in the major leagues. The results were not good; The singer gave up four runs on seven beats and six touchdowns in 6 2/3 innings. Superintendent Mike Matheny said at the time the Royals had set up their Open Day change so the organization still sees Singer as a starting pitcher over time. It is possible, then, for the Singer to have the opportunity to expand and return to the Majors as a startup. Kansas City has received negative results from both Kris Bubic and Carlos Hernandezwhich would open the door for Singer or other small organizational tools to take on the initiative.

Optioning Singer means more than just right-handed or beyond the existing mix of the group, however. Because Singer broke camp with the Royals in 2020 and was in the squad all season, he entered the year with exactly two years of MLB service time. He must be 172 days off the list in 2022 to reach three years of service and remain on track to work for free after the 2025 season. They may still be eligible to compete as a Super Two player – not spending a long time in Omaha – but the time they spend with children may be worth a closer look.

In the case of Mondesi, a knee injury is almost the only injury that has left a skilled but weak player out of line. Mondesi has missed time in the last few years with oblique, hamstring, groin and, most importantly, shoulder injuries. The shoulder issue became more expensive, as Mondesi suffered two complications before surgery especially the one that came with a recovery time of six months.

Mondesi played 59 of the Royals’ 60 games in 2020, but all from 2019-21, appeared in just 196 out of 384 possible matches (51%). There is no clear timetable for Mondesi to re-enter the Royals, but just mentioning the structural damage shows the most important time off the list.

At the moment, the Royals are deep in the mid-term elections. Bobby Witt Jr. has been playing the third role and Nicky Lopez on the second stage, but they are all very knowledgeable and more capable than shortstops. Whit Merrifield has been playing outside more often than this season but could return to the second half, Lopez slips into the shortstop. This preparation could open the door for Isbel – a veteran of the minor league who has not yet established himself in the major leagues – to appear on the field.
