Oklahoma will soon take Texas crown for the World Series
The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners (57-3) is looking to add to the pitch at the end of a well-known season with sixth competition in program history, with a second straight title.
Standing in their way is a well-known enemy.
Two-thirds of the Women’s College World Series have also donated the latest version of Red River Rivalry with the highest quality pillars ever. Oklahoma vs Texas? Like David against Goliath. Come Friday (or Thursday) night, who will have the best softball tournament?
Undoubtedly, the softest softball program in a decade, Wednesday is the third consecutive OR tournament, the seventh in the last 10 years and the eighth ever.
The last time Oklahoma won a series of titles (which was held by UCLA, Arizona and Florida) was in 2016 and 2017.
The Longhorns (47-20-1), meanwhile, are competing in their first race, beating the buckets with joy in their wake. With the winner coming back Monday at No. 7 Oklahoma State, Texas became the first undefeated team in NCAA history to reach the final. Texas’ history of the 4-1 WCWS (one-game losing to Oklahoma, 7-2, on June 4) makes a huge difference to its 5-7 record for the start of the season.
Jocelyn Alo and other key players in Oklahoma
OR leads the NCAA on the team batting team (.368), runners-up (553, 131 more than the Arkansas runner-up) and home games in the game (2.45). At Jocelyn Alo, the Sooners have some of the best college games they have ever seen. He is the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer with 120, and became the first player to record three home run races at WCWS (against Texas!). His average fight this season is the second best in the NCAA at .509.
Oklahoma’s leadership within the court is also a clutch. RHP Hope Trautwein, who relocated to Norman this year from North Texas, has allowed 14 passes through 121 innings. On Monday night, he won six of the five innings to elevate OR 15-0 to UCLA, the biggest victory in WCWS history and Oklahoma’s 40th win of the season (it is also a record, doubling the Division 20 second division with Louisiana). The win was 21 for Trautwein, which lifted its winning streak to .954. OR all have the lowest ERA in the NCAA at 0.97
Why Texas can’t be counted on
While it’s hard to imagine anyone but just as they were about to lift the competition flag over the weekend, it seems absurd to get rid of the Longhorns. One of Oklahoma’s three losses this season came from Texas (4-2 at Austin, provided OR beat UT in their other three meetings.). The Longhorns are in line for a three-game winning streak which is sponsored and assisted by Texas Cat Osterman in the standings. And even if he goes back, the Longhorns have 18 successful returns this season, so who knows how close the list will be.
WCWS popularity and softball rise
Regardless of who wins, history has been set. In history good softball has been played before the history of eyewitnesses.
ESPN also announced its broadcasts Thursday in Oregon State-Florida and Northwestern-Oklahoma nearly 901,000 viewers. Prior to that, the district size between Texas and Arkansas was about 1.02 million. On Saturday the dual title filmed a one-day record from 12,533 fans heading to Oklahoma City.
Network idatero The 1st semifinal match between Oklahoma State and Texas had an audience of 1.25 million. Game 2 rose to 1.3 million.
The big time show – the only time to compare – on ESPN at 8:30 pm Wednesday can also promise the same.
