Nicole Defilo, Antenna 1: All right. So, “In Case You Missed It” you released it as a single from your new album and what’s the story behind the song? How did you feel and what inspired you when you finished writing this?

Matt Simmons: It’s one, you know, it’s funny. I was, I’ve been out of dating games for a long time. You know, I’m married. I have a child and I was writing to my friend who is married and has a baby but we were. Talking about when you know, in the days when you knew you were dating and at the beginning of a relationship where you didn’t know how. Try to find a balance between how much to communicate. You don’t want to be overly interested, but you don’t want to pay too much, so you need to find a balance. And if someone gives you too little, how do you tell them: ‘Hey, is that a thing? Is this the real thing or will you write me again or are you just going to like me? Let me sit in this text message. Like. Give me something ‘. It’s about the dance that people do. Did you know that early stage of the relationship? Where are you trying to find out exactly? What is this person’s contract? Will they write me again?

Nicole Defilo, Antenna 1: And what was the most challenging moment of writing it and writing everything you felt? What was the most challenging moment of all?

Matt Simmons: I think the most challenging part was, you know the album was almost ready to go towards the end of 2019. And then so far everything has stopped and just trying to get to the finish line and complete the record that you know and you know, write a few more songs for that, which was hard to do because no one was able to come together and write in person. So I was glad it took a little longer than that, but. We’re glad to complete the album.

“You know the song tomorrow better. I wrote it a long time ago and about it, you know, my fight with panic attacks and anxiety and it’s gone. It’s been such a journey with this song and I’ve never found the right words. You know I I actually wrote it before my last album, so it has been working for a long time ৷ and yes, it seems like it we found out that you finally got it from these producers named Hampas and Linval and Sweden and we finally got the word.
