Curitiba is vaccinated against the flu and measles on Saturday for children under 6 months to 5 years of age

Next Saturday (30/4) is the day of flu vaccination across the country. In Curitiba, 26 basic health units will be open for vaccination of children aged 6 months to 5 years (4 years, 11 months and 29 days) from 8 am to 5 pm, a target audience defined by the Ministry of Health.

On D-Day, children will also receive a dose of the Triple Viral Vaccine (VTV). It protects against mumps, rubella and measles, which in turn has led to an increase in cases in the country. VTV will be implemented even for children who are up to date in vaccination status.

For children who have already received at least one dose of influenza vaccine in previous years, the vaccination schedule will include only one dose. For children who will be vaccinated for the first time, the adaptation is that the second dose is given 30 days after the first dose.

The Municipal Health Department (SMS) estimates that more than 125,000 children are eligible for vaccinations this Saturday.

The director of the SMS Epidemiology Center, Alcides Oliveira, advises parents or guardians on the importance of keeping their children’s tick status up to date.

“In recent times, there has been an increase in the demand for baby care, including respiratory symptoms, viruses and other bacterial infections,” he said. Some of these diseases can be prevented by vaccines, so it is important to join the campaign, “said Oliveira.

Triple viral
The Triple Viral Vaccine (VTV) protects against mumps, rubella and measles, which have re-emerged in the country. In Curitiba, there is no record of the disease this year, but measles cases have increased in other states. As people move to other cities, the disease can spread and spread if there is no major vaccination movement.

“Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to complications and even death, especially in children. The disease can be prevented by vaccines, “explains Oliveira.

Those who are unable to attend D-Day will be able to take vaccination points throughout the week. The recap also goes to the elderly who have still been vaccinated against the flu.

2022 campaign
SMS This year’s flu campaign began March 30 and has already vaccinated more than 93,000 people in the city. Priority audiences are defined by the ministry on the basis of the possibility of vulnerability and complications in the case of flu.

The national campaign was divided into two phases. In Curitiba, the elderly have already been called in and work is underway to vaccinate health professionals. This Saturday, the campaign will be extended to children. The call from other priority groups depends on the arrival of a new consignment of vaccines.

Remaining to be summoned: pregnant and postpartum women; Indian people; Teacher; People with congenital diseases; Persons with permanent disabilities; Truck driver Transport workers; Port workers; Security forces; Armed forces; Employees deprived of the freedom system, the deprived population and adolescents and young people in the socio-educational system.

Documents and masks
To get vaccinated, just go to a service location, take a document with a photo of the parent or guardian and CPF and an identification document of the child.

SMS recalls that in curiosity, the use of masks is mandatory in health services. Therefore, it is mandatory to use a mask for vaccination.

Stop yourself
In addition to vaccinations for the most at-risk populations, non-pharmacological care is needed to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, not just the flu, such as frequent hand hygiene, ventilation, freezing and avoiding closed areas.

Isolation is recommended if you have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, general malaise, sore throat, headache, body aches, chills). If you need to travel for health care, the adaptation is to wear a face protection mask.

For SUS users with symptoms of mild shortness of breath, first aid can be obtained by telephoning 3350-9000 from 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday.

Also, when sneezing, it is important to maintain “etiquette” to avoid infecting other people. “When coughing or sneezing, cover your face with your hands,” explains Olivera.
